How to Fix- Cloned Hard Drive Shows Wrong Size 2022

If you have cloned a drive and its capacity has been reduced after cloning, this article is for you.

After cloning the contents of a 240gb SSD to a 500gb SSD, the capacity of the 500gb SSD had been reduced to 240gb.

The unallocated space on the 500gb drive was not found in Disk Management and a piece of software called EaseUs Partition Master confirmed that the drive was in fact a 500gb SSD, but it could not access the missing partition.

To get access to and merge the missing partition, download AOMEI Partition Assistant- Standard Edition. After installing and opening the software, the missing partition was viewable. Right click on the “Unallocated Partition” and click “Merge Partitions”. When a new window pops up, select all partitions you want to merge and click ok. You will now see that the partitions are merged. To finalize your operation, click the “Apply” button on the top left of the software, then click “Proceed”

Now you are done. The full capacity of the drive is now viewable in “My PC” and can now be fully accessed.
